perfect cycle paths, considerate drivers, attractive scenery and excellent service. Austria is a country promised to cyclists.
If you're spending your cycling holiday in the Gastein valley, don't miss a bike trip to the Gasteinertal valley, at the end of which lies the popular Sportgastein ski resort.

Sportgastein is definitely worth a visit in summer as well, as it offers a number of cycle paths and the possibility of adrenaline-pumping bike rides.
From Bad Gastein there is an alpine road leading to the resort, which is free for skiers in winter with a ski pass. In summer, a toll of 5 euros is charged. Although it may come as a surprise at first, you won't regret the experience in the end. Just on the way to the ski resort you will be enchanted by the beautiful panoramas and the unusual passages through the unlit rock tunnels.
Leave your car in the Sportgastein car park at 1587 m. Here the road ends and only the beautiful Alpine countryside awaits you. The Sportgastein valley can also be reached by bus from Bad Gastein station. This option is convenient for those planning a longer sightseeing trip with a return to Bad Gastein.
Cyclists can reach the valley via a marked cycle path directly from Bad Gastein and, because it is wide and safe, ride their bikes through a large part of the valley. Well-marked cycle paths run throughout the area, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the unspoilt countryside from the saddle of your bike.
To make your trip more interesting, you can visit the local shepherd's hut where you can taste Austrian home-made specialties - bacon, ham, cheese, bread, butter. In the summer months you will definitely see large herds of cows, sheep, goats and maybe even horses. So be alert when biking down the local pastures, you never know what you'll run into on the ground with your bike.
