Wondering how to plan your holiday so that everyone, including the little ones, can enjoy it?

Bad Gastein and the surrounding area is a popular destination for holidaymakers of all ages and you won't be bored. However, it's a good idea to find out in advance what you can do with your children, even in bad weather. Then you can change your plans flexibly while on holiday and not worry about how to entertain your excited kids. In this article, we present five activities that are definitely worth trying.

Hiking with a touch of wilderness

From the Höhkarbach car park, take the route towards Sportgastein through the Anlauftal valley. The trail leads through beautiful alpine countryside with a touch of true wilderness and offers plenty of opportunities to explore and play in nature. How about building a dam in a stream, a pet house in the undergrowth or collecting pebbles and other treasures? Little and big adventurers alike can really get into the swing of things here. Tip: Don't forget to pack a snack or a picnic so that you don't get hungry in the valley. Also consider trying to get close to the Radeckalm (1,574 m). For smaller children, the hike might be too strenuous.

Walk along the promenade

Travelling with a pushchair? In Bad Gastein, this is certainly no reason to limit yourself. Take a breath of fresh air for a stroll along the Kaiser Wilhelm-Promenade towards Bad Hofgastein. The entire promenade runs along a straight path that is easily navigable with a stroller. On the way, you can stop at one of the many cosy cafés. Tip.

Swimming in the thermal baths

The thermal baths in Bad Gastein have a lot of fun activities for the little ones: bubbling geysers, water slides and a children's pool will light up many a child's eyes. In the family world of the Alpenthereme Bad Hofgastein thermal spa, you will be welcomed by Maya the Bee and other fairy-tale characters looking down from the screens of the multimedia centre. In the Felsentherme you will find two children's pools, a 70-metre long slide and a lazy river. Tip: In summer, Bad Hofgastein has an outdoor complex with a children's playground, beach volleyball and table tennis. It is the ideal place for active relaxation and recreation for the whole family.

Up against the wall!

Right in the centre of Bad Gastein you will find the unique amusement park with the Wunder Berg artificial wall, where children from the age of four can have fun. The climbing wall is designed to give the little ones plenty of fun without injury. Beginners of all ages can choose climbing routes from several levels of difficulty. Feeling particularly adventurous? Try the 100-metre long zipline that will take you right over the theme park. Now that's a family experience that's really worth it! Tip: If you like ziplining, head to the cable car above the Schlossalm playground. Take a ride at 2,050 metres above sea level. Such an energy expenditure in the fresh air will tire out even the most restless.

Explore from horseback

Do you also think that the most beautiful view of the world is from horseback? Or do you just need to be convinced? There are two stables in Bad Gastein that offer riding for all ages. For children, there is an educational programme on ponies. They will learn to understand and care for horses and then the basics of riding. Teenagers will appreciate the possibility of group rides through alpine forests and meadows. Advanced riders can pay for dressage lessons under the supervision of an experienced instructor and learn a lot. In bad weather, take advantage of the indoor riding. Tip:
