It is possible to climb the whole hill from the lower station in Dorfgastein, but families with children will especially appreciate the possibility to take the cable car up to the Fulseck mountain station, which is 2033 metres above sea level. Breathtaking views of the Gastein valley or the Hochkönig mountain await you on the cable car ride,
You can choose between two routes. The first one will be appreciated by young visitors, as it takes you to Lake Spiegelsee, where you can try out the barefoot trail. You'll walk on different types of terrain that will massage your feet, and the cold lake water will refresh you beautifully. Along the lake, restful oases await you where you can relax while your children play.
You can continue on, where adventurous children will have a blast on the forest playground, which will test their climbing and jumping skills. If you've got tireless marmots at home, you better believe they'll hit the cushions like killing after all this fun. If you get too tired, you can use the cable car again for the trip down, whose station can be found right next to Lake Spiegelsee.
But that's certainly not all Fulseck has to offer. From the mountain station you can take a second, more panoramic, trail. On this one, you will pass through energetic places where higher natural radiation has been measured and which will get new blood in your veins.
There are also various nature trails. On the mushroom trail, for example, you will learn more about the species of mushrooms growing in the Gastein Valley.
Of course, you'll be treated to spectacular views of the valley throughout your hike, and if you find Fulseck in good weather, paragliders and gliders will be flying overhead to add to the relaxed atmosphere.
On some days there is a special programme at Fulseck that you won't want to miss. The plan for this year is as follows:
17.july - sunset hike with a national park ranger (start at 18:30)
29.july - children's summer festival on Lake Spiegelsee (from 10 am)
9.august - dinner on the summit - four-course menu with classical music
19.august - hiking with folk music
21.august - sunset hike with a national park ranger (start at 6:30 p.m.)
Fulseck also offers great opportunities for cyclists.
