Are you tempted by Bad Gastein but don't know how to entertain the kids? Are they not yet experienced enough skiers to ski for a whole week? Bad Gastein not only offers kilometres of slopes and cross-country ski tracks, but also other time activities such as tobogganing. A prerequisite for sledging is plenty of natural snow, as the tracks are not artificially snowed.

Where to go sledding?

Sledging in Bad Gastein offers a real experience for both children and adults. At the pleasant restaurant Hirschaustuberi, there is a gentle slope of the Kaiserin Elisabeth Promenade where you can go sledging together. The advantage is that the roller skating rink, which grooms the cross-country trail daily, also levels the terrain for tobogganing. Children will also appreciate the fact that they keep ponies which they can pet.

Another toboggan run leads from the Bellevue Alm restaurant. The track is just under three kilometres long and can be reached by taking the old monorail to the start, which you can get on near the centre of Bad Gastein. At the top station you can rent a classic wooden sledge. In high season, the track is illuminated from 6pm to midnight.

the third toboggan run is the Aeroplan toboggan run, located in Bad Hofgastein. The track is just under three and a half kilometres long and has artificial lighting. It also offers the possibility to rent sledges. The track is open every Tuesday and Thursday.

the last track is the Naturrodelbahn Strohlehenalm, which can be found in Dorfgastein. It is open all day and is 2 kilometres long. It is illuminated several times a week.

if you don't just want to go sledging, there is an ice arena in Bad Hofgastein. You can sort out skates by renting them on site. The arena can be found in the centre of the town next to the Alpentherme spa.

the last attraction, where both children and adults will have fun, is the Funslope Gastein, which athttps://www.alpenheart.at/aktivity/tipy-na-vylet/termalni-lazne-alpentherme-bad-hofgastein-25.htmlleznete right on the ski slope. There is a 5m butterbox at the start, followed by banked turns where you can really accelerate. Then sell two six-meter long tunnels, between which there is a small jump. The track is followed by a rainbowbutterbox and a jump over 2 bridges. The grand finale is a 10m spiral. The Funslope can be reached by the Sendleitenbah and Kleine Scharte cable cars.

A map of the winter valley of Gastein can be found here: the toboggan runs are marked with a toboggan symbol.
