It's important to be properly prepared so you can get out there as soon as the snow falls. It all starts with proper planning. Before you start the actual hike, make sure you are thoroughly informed about the current avalanche danger situation. Maps, the internet or experts can give you information on the length of the hike, the height difference and the difficulty. Carry full equipment, including an avalanche finder, probe and shovel, which is indispensable for anyone leaving safe ski terrain.
If you wish to make your first ski tour, venture higher and experience the sensations that a day on the glaciers evokes, head to:
Ski tour Stubneralm - S1
The start of this 3.6 km long hike is at the end of the B11 slope near the mountain restaurant "Angertal 1180". This beautiful forest hike is well marked with 20 signs and climbs 640 m in elevation. After completing this route, you can reward yourself with a tasty snack in the ancient Stubneralm.
Zirbenroas Graukogel - S2
The marked ski tour to the Zirbenberg Graukogel starts at the middle station. On the 1.5 km long "Zirbenroas" a 500 m ascent awaits you. Once you arrive, a fantastic view of the Gastein valley awaits you and of course a well-deserved refreshment at the Graukogel mountain hut. Depending on snow conditions, you can start your ski tour at the valley station next to the Graukogel cable car and ascend along the edge of the slope to the middle station or take the Graukogel I cable car to the start of the marked tour to the middle station.
Ski tour Jungeralm - S3
Like the ski tour Stubneralm - S1, this ski tour starts in the ski resort of Angertal and runs approximately 1 km to the back of Angertal past the "Hirschn Hütt'n" before turning left.
