The Gasteiner Höhenweg (Gastein trail) is located between the spa towns of Bad Gastein and Bad Hofgastein. It is one of the most popular trails through the Gastein valley with a spectacular view of the High Tatras.

Bad Gastein ➡️ Bad Hofgastein

Start the trail in Bad Gastein at the train station or at the Grüner Baum Hotel in Kötschachtal (9 km from Residence AlpenHeart). The Gasteiner Höhenweg is very well marked all along the route, be sure to follow the signs. Head west along the Kötschachtaler road, turn right across the stream. On the way, enjoy coffee and the famous cream cuts at Café Gamskar. All along the way you will pass beautiful alpine nature, farms, old mills, gorges (Gadaunerer and Remsacher), farm animals, deer and fallow deer preserves, waterfalls, flower meadows and enjoy unforgettable views of the surrounding area. The path is accompanied by illuminated tunnels in the rocks and information boards. At the end, you will descend a gentle hill to the Café Sonnberg, where you can enjoy excellent coffee.

Bad Hofgastein ➡️ Bad Gastein

To get back to Bad Gastein, take the Kurgartenstraße, which will take you to the bus station - the bus ride back to Bad Gastein takes about 26 minutes.
