Hohenwerfen Castle

Hohenwerfen Castle can be found at the very top of the cliff, which is separated on all sides by a valley. Kaprun Castle

This castle is located in the municipality of Kaprun. The first mention of the building dates back to the 12th century, when it was listed as the property of the Lords of Falkenstein-Neuburg. Kaprun Castle has been fully renovated and is undoubtedly a very attractive place for a trip.

Today, the castle is used extensively, especially for cultural events. One of the most famous is the Kaprun Festival, during which the entire castle and the village below it come alive with a medieval atmosphere. In its courtyard you can find the main grandstand, which can seat up to 450 people. If you are interested in a tour of this historic castle, you can enjoy it every Monday.

Klammstein Castle

Klammstein Castle is very accessible and therefore invites you to take a family trip with your children. You can find it at the very beginning of the Gastein valley, right above the tunnel. The castle was founded in the 11th century and used to have 4 towers. Today it is more of a smaller castle and only one of the original towers remains. Nevertheless, it is still worth a visit.

Inside you will find exhibitions on hunting, the history of the surrounding area and gold mining. You can also visit the castle's shenk, which will surely entice you with many local specialties. A local guide is included in the admission fee and German-speaking visitors will appreciate the truly rich interpretation. The castle is open to visitors every day, except Mondays, from 11 am to 6 pm.
